CIE is part of Cambridge Assessment, Europe’s largest assessment agency and a department of the University of Cambridge. Cambridge Assessment was established in 1858 as the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES).University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications. Around 1.5 million students from 150 countries enter Cambridge examinations every year.
In keeping with OIS mission statement and OIS Secondary School philosophy that aims to provide a broad-based educational program for the holistic development of transitional adolescents, the IGCSE program offers
- A balanced curriculum and a flexible course of study.
- Most subjects offer a choice between core curriculum and extended curriculum. This give students of all ability levels the freedom to choose subjects that are right for them and, thereby, the opportunity to score good grades.
- The core curriculum is an overview of the subject and is suitable for students who are expected to achieve grades C to G.
From June 2011 OIS is introducing, for our Grade 9 students, the
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) provided by
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). The two-year IGCSE programme is the world's most popular international qualification for 14–16 year olds. It develops successful students, giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education, progression to the IB Diploma, and equips them with skills for immediate employment. Universities and colleges worldwide recognize the IGCSE.
